July Favourites

Can you believe it's we're over half way through 2014 already? There's still so much I want to do before the year is over! July has been a rather dull month for me. I've been back at work ever since I got  back from Vienna so my days have been spend waitressing and my evenings trying to see as many friends as I can while I'm home for summer. Hopefully next month I'll be able to squeeze in a bit more time for blogging! Anyway, here's a selection of some of the things I've been loving this July.

1. Rimmel Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick in 100 Rose Gold
Ever since swatching MAC Mythology recently I've been obsessed with rose gold eyes, and this product is definitely one of my favourites. Its super easy to apply (just swipe on and blend out) and the gorgeous shade really makes my blue eyes pop. It's also super long lasting, which is much needed during this unexpected heatwave England is having! I've been wearing this product either on its own for a toned down look, or with a gold eyeshadow on top (such as Trick from the Naked 3 Palette) for a bit more drama. Very excited to try more of these Rimmel Shadow Sticks, I've got my eye on the shade 'Trespassing Taupe'.

2. Soap & Glory Hand Maid Anti- Bacterial Hand Cleansing Gel
I picked this up at the airport when Boots were having a 3-for-2 on travel miniatures and it has not left my bag since. Not only does it make my hands feel clean and fresh, this stuff smells AMAZING. Seriously, whats in this? I want a perfume this good! Go have a sniff, this stuff is a real summer essential.

3. Daucshund Necklace
It may be hard to see in the image but this is the cutest necklace with a tiny sausage dog on it. Though I'm a cat lady at heart, I am obsessed with sausage dogs so when I saw this in a shop in Brighton recently, I knew it had to be mine. I feel like it adds a little touch of playfulness to my outfits and makes me happy every time I see a cute little sausage dog round my neck (crazy pet lady moment over.)

4. MAC Crosswires
Could this be my favourite lipstick ever? Well that's a very big statement to make, but I bloomin' love this one. I gushed about my love for it a few posts ago so wont say much, but I've worn this nearly everyday of July and I love it.

5. MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter
For some reason I only seem to have cream highlighters, so when I saw this pretty pinky-champagne shade for just £3 I picked it up. I find it perfect for work as it brightens my face, but very subtly. Perfect for when you're wearing little to no make up and just want to perk up your face. A great budget highlighter!

6. The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil
I've had this for a while but realised I hadn't yet mentioned it in a post. The formula is a 'serum-in-oil', and while I am no skin care buff and don't really know what that means, I know I like it. It leaves skin hydrated and soft when I wake up in the morning. I've been using this every night, after my cleanser and before my moisturiser for about two months now and I've definitely seen a difference. My skin feels calmer and extremely soft. Good stuff.

7. Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Satsuma
The fact that I can't wear nail varnish to work is one of the things I hate most about my job (haha). If I could, this summery shade would have been on nails all month. Not only do I love the tasty sounding name, but I love the rich and bright reddy-orange shade. Is it red? Is it orange? I'm not sure but it's fab. While it's perfect for summer, I also can't wait to wear this as a pop of colour with an all black outfit in the winter.

So that's it for my monthly favourites for this month. Let me know if you've tried any of the products mentioned and what you thought. What have you been loving this month?

My First Mac Purchases

I've always been a lipstick lover, however as a poor student I've normally stuck to drugstore brands and have never really ventured out into any more 'high end' products. MAC has always been a brand I've been dying to try out and start a collection of lipsticks. And so, during a recent trip to Vienna I found myself on our last day with some leftover euros, and couple of hours to spare, and a small MAC store nearby, I knew some damage had to be done. Knowing that the store was there, I spent some time googling away deciding which products would make my perfect first MAC purchases. Here's what I went for:

Left: Lipstick in Crosswires, Right: Eyeshadow in All That Glitters

Eyeshadow in All That Glitters: Although I originally only intended on getting a lipstick, but this gorgeous golden shade won me over. I love this shade and find that it really makes my blue eyes pop.

Lipstick in Crosswires: After countless swatches and hours of watching 'My Top Mac Lipsticks' videos I finally decided on Crosswires. Though I'm a big fan of a bold lip, I wanted my first MAC lipstick to be something that I could wear everyday and that goes with everything. And this gorgeous shade certainly does that. I'm totally scared of nude shades, so this coraly pink works on me as a sort of 'my lips but better' shade, and helps to perk up my face on sleepy mornings. I love it, and have definitely opened the doors to a very dangerous addiction (goodbye wages!).

What was your first MAC purchase? And what should be my next?

Face of The Day

Thought that I'd give you a sneak peek into what make up I'm wearing on a daily basis at the moment. This is a really simple look, but the amazing new Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick gives it that pop of colour.

Foundation: Rimmel Match Perfection in 010- Light Porcelain
I wasn't too sure about this stuff at first, as it does have a tendency to cling to my dry patches. However it literally is 'match perfection' for my skin tone, and it gives such a lovely, silky finish that it has become one of my firm favourites. I must admit, I'm a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to experimenting with new foundations, so if you know of any that are perfect for dry, pale skin (attractive, i know) do let me know!

Concealer: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
Cheap, cheerful and does the job. I won't talk much about this stuff as everyone raves about it. All I'll say is that I love this concealer so much I stock up every time there's a 3-for-2 at Boots.

Bronzer: Natural Collection Suntint Bronzing Powder in Sun Shine
I don't think I've bought anything from Natural Collection since I was 14 until I got this. I was looking for a cheap bronzer that wasn't shimmery or glittery, and was actually really impressed by this! It cost s just £1.99 and is perfect for giving my face a summery look without being shimmery, or too dark. Great for price, I definitely recommend this stuff.

Mascara: Loreal Paris False Lash Telescopic Mascara in Magnetic Black
I've been wearing this mascara a lot recently. It's my favourite for getting long, fluttery lashes, and looks great even when I'm wearing nothing else on my eyes.

Lips: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in 03- Hot Pepper
I am obsessed with this stuff at the moment. I can't get over how much I love it. I'm a big fan of liquid lipsticks, and this is the best that I've tried. It applies as a liquid but dries into a gorgeously velvet, matte finish without making my lips stiff and dry. Hot Pepper is my favourite shade of the bunch; its a bold orangey-red, a bit more playful than the classic red I usually go for. I should also mention that this stuff does. not. budge. I've been out for dinner with this on and it's still on my lips (even after a very large pizza). I am seriously impressed.

What are you wearing on your face at the moment? Any products you're loving? Let me know!

Wendy Loves...Bourjois Blush in Rose d'Or/Golden Rose

Have you ever fallen back in love with a product and wondered why on earth you stopped using it in the first place? Well that's what happened with me and Bourjois Little Round Pot blushers. Back when I was at school the shade Rose Frisson was my go to blush for a heathy glow without being busted for wearing make-up (strictly not allowed). I think I probably stole it from my mum- the smell of these smell lime my mum to me! But recently, as I have been experimenting with trying out new products this little pot of joy somehow got pushed aside.

And then I saw this. I was first attracted to it by the pretty new (limited edition i think?) packaging, but it was the colour that sold me. It's a gorgeously shimmery (but not glittery) rose pink, and I have been wearing it none stop. I've loved all the shades I've tried from the Little Round Pot collection but this has to be my favourite. They come with a small brush, which I have to say I don't normally use, but along with the mirror makes it perfect for when you're on the go.  been wearing it both day and night, and think it's the most gorgeous shade fro spring and summer, as it just brightens up the face. So, they smell good, look good and make my cheeks happy. Bourjois Little Round Pot, welcome back into my life!

Wendy Loves...The William Morris Gallery

Jumper: Topshop, Dress: River Island, Bag: Vintage, Sunglasses: Ebay

I've been wanting to take a visit to the William Morris Gallery for a while, but after my first attempt ended in a nightmare journey only to find the gallery closed, its taken me a while to muster up the energy to try again! But I am very glad a did, as my visit this weekend was fab. If you're not sure who he is, William Morris was a designer, most famous for his wallpaper and textile designs, and founder of the Arts & Crafts movement. I am obsessed with his beautiful designs, and dream of filling my house with Morris prints!

The gallery itself can be found a short walk away from Walthamstow Central station, in the house where Morris grew up. I gather that it's recently been re-done after winning the Art Fund Museum of the Year Prize in 2013. Well, they've certainly put the money to good use! Everything was beautifully displayed, with fun interactive games and even better, a good gift shop! For Morris fans or just lovers of all this beautiful, the William Morris Gallery is the perfect day out. The gardens are gorgeous too, so try and go on a sunny day to appreciate the full beauty!
Any other Morris geeks out there? Have you ever been to the William Morris Gallery? I'd love to hear what it was like before the re-vamp!

Love, Wendy

Pizza & Friends

I think I've found the best pizza place ever.
A big statement I know, but after a trip with some friends last week, my new foodie discovery 'Franco Manca' has definitely impressed. Not only are the staff lovely, the pizza AMAZING but the prices are equally appealing. (I actually found out about it while flipping through 'Time Out Londons's Top 100 Cheap Eats'.)
Rhiannon's amazing purse and skirt combo

Franco Manca prides itself on it's fresh ingredient and sourdough bases. You can either choose a ready made pizza from the menu (I went for a number 6: tomato, chorizo and mozzarella FYI) or you can create your owning by adding a bunch of the delicious toppings. My friend went for butternut squash. Butternut squash on a pizza? Weird, but wonderful.
Franco Manca is a delicious and as a meal for under a tenner makes it very student friendly evening out.
We went to the Balham branch, but there are also branches in Tottenham Court Road, Brixton, Chiswick, Northcote, Westfields and Broadway Market. Be sure to check it out!
